Submitted. Pretty Estates Resort will be hosting its 2nd Annual Great Gatsby Garden Party. Inspired by the Hollywood Hit, The Great Gatsby, this 1920s-themed poolside gathering will feature live music, swing dancers, and a craft fair showcasing local artisans.
Established in 2013, the first event was a big hit with locals and out-of-town guests alike, with about 200 attendees in their finest 1920s attire. Unlike any other event in the Lower Mainland, organizers are excited to welcome guests back, promising an event that is even bigger and better.
Headlining the party is Jennifer Hodge, a noted Vancouver-based bass player. Hodge has twice led a quartet, in the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, been nominated for the CBC Galaxie Rising Stars Award, and travels throughout North America.
“My parents bought this land in the early 1900s, so the character of Rowena’s Inn, formerly the home that I grew up in, is perfect for a Gatsby Party. People told us it was a fitting venue and we listened,” explains Betty Ann Faulkner, owner of Pretty Estates Resort. “It is with great honour that I welcome people as my guests.”
Party guests are encouraged to dress in the classical style of this bygone era, and will enjoy an Afternoon Tea menu, including savouries and dainties, prepared by Executive Chef, Jonathan Gee, and his team.
