From Abbotsford Rugby The Abbotsford Originals hosted its 2nd Annual John Buchanan Memorial game on March 16th, 2014.

Over 25 pleyers dressed up to face the Preist Valley Vicars from Kelowna. The visiting team came a few players short so Abby lent them 3 players in the true spirit of the game. With a packed sideline watching, Abby was victorious 8 tries to nil but the tone of the game was very cordial.

Special thanks to referee Norm Upton for officiating an efficient game as well as Jesse Tranberg who make the trek out from Nanaimo that day to participate in the game. After the game, the clubhouse was packed wall to wall where several pints were hoisted in honour of our fallen friend.

It’s been a year since we lost our beloved Beaker and although he’s been missed by all, his true spirit lives on. This will be an annual game so if you missed it this year, mark it on your calender for next year.
