Lora Bertuccio wants to shine a light on the issue of domestic abuse and how self esteem in women can be a catalyst for many women to have multiple difficulties in their lives.
That’s why she has organized Saturday’s fashion show and fundraiser at the Sandman Hotel and Suites starting a 6:00 pm. Funds raised will go to self care products for the women of the Christine Lamb supportive housing residence for women and children which is under the umbrella of Women’s Resource Society of the Fraser Valley. Bertuccio is hoping to raise $2,000.
“I myself have been through domestic abuse and had to go to a shelter and then to second stage housing and it was there that the inspiration came to do this event,” says Bertuccio, adding, “The women of Christine Lamb house on Shame and Vulnerability helped take me from a depressed state into one that felt like I could make a difference. They help empower me and now I feel it is my calling to help empower other women as well.”
Bertuccio owns Face It Pro Makeup and just opened a new photo studio in Downtown Abbotsford called Face It Studios where she teaches a professional makeup course. The company specializes in glamour photos and family and couples photography.
Saturday promises to be a full evening with a makeup competition, a fashion show and Gary Jones, Vice President of Research and Development, BeautiControl Cosmetics, will be attending all the way from Dallas Texas. BeautiControl is skin and makeup company which has approximately 6000 direct sales representatives in Canada.
A First nations drum session, dancing, door prizes and a community advocacy presentation will round out the evening.
