UPDATED. According to Global News, nurses are gathering today at Abbotsford Regional Hospital “To voice their concern about changes to pediatric care at the facility.”
Global reported yesterday, “According to the nurses, plans to convert under-used pediatric beds to adult overflow space in an effort to deal with overcrowding has lowered the quality of care children are receiving.
The Fraser Health Authority denies those claims, saying they have made the necessary changes to ensure patient care is a top priority.”
Pediatric day care has been being used at the Abbotsford hospital for Emergency Room overflow due to a lack of beds. On February 8, FHA issued a press release saying they were effectively dealing with congestion at Lower Mainland hospitals.
