Submitted. Abbotsford residents have successfully completed their neighbourhood beautification project after receiving a 2012 Neighbourhood Matching fund of $900 to match their community donation.
The boulevard project in which the group called “Something Beautiful is happening here” was proposed by the Dina Place neighbourhood in 2012. The main objectives of this project were to plant and landscape the street front to turn an eye sore to a beautiful sight, and to be able to get to know the new residents in the area during this group effort.
This group of residents enjoyed their community project and meeting other neighbors so much that they are about to take on the other side of the boulevard. The residents will clean up the right side of their boulevard by September and then celebrate with a block party barbeque. The neighbourhood is taking ownership of this common area and will continue to foster it.
