Submitted. At 10:27pm on February 25, Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service (AFRS) responded to a report of a barn fire at 4888 Emerson Drive.
Upon arrival, AFRS found a barn fully engulfed in flames. Part of the barn had already collapsed when fire crews arrived. Crews used a defensive attack strategy to fight the fire in order to protect other structures in the surrounding area.
As there were no fire hydrants in the immediate location, crews had to shuttle water in to the area from the nearest fire hydrant a few kilometers away. Once a stable water supply was established, crews we able to actively work to extinguish the fire.
13 Fire units and 40 staff attended this fire. The crews worked late into the evening to ensure it was out. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Fire investigators will be on scene today to try to determine the cause.
The barn was a complete loss, and the cost of the damages is unknown at this time. No injuries were reported, and no animals were in the barn at the time of the fire.
