From CBC. With the Bearcat volleyball teams at home this past weekend, the Basketball teams were on the road to face the Douglas College Royals, and the Langara Falcons.
In men’s action, the Bearcats had themselves a very successful weekend completing their first weekend sweep and taking down the #1 team in the country in the process. Friday night the Cats rolled into New Westminster to take on the 3rd place Royals. After going back and forth throughout the game, the Beacats we able to pull ahead and win the game 70-67. A big win! But Saturday night saw the Cats raise the bar and hand the Langara Falcons, the only undefeated team in the CCAA, their first loss of the season by a score of 102-100. The men were led all weekend by guard Kevin Ford who posted a double-double Friday night (17 points, 16 rebounds) and a triple-double on Saturday (27 points, 12 rebounds, 14 assists). With the two wins, the Bearcats now find themselves in 4th place.
On the women’s side, while they battled hard all weekend, and were led by forwards Deanna Esau and Janelle Threlfall, the ladies dropped both weekend games. The Cats were edged by the Royals 54-44 Friday night. Esau finished the game with an impressive 16 points, 21 rebounds, and 2 assists. While Threlfall chipped in with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 helpers. Saturday, while the Cats were led again by Esau with 4 points, 17 rebounds, and 2 assists, the Bearcats fell to the Falcons 70-30.
