By Elsiewhere. “I can’t remember the last time someone cradled my head.”
That comment made by one of the people she served on Saturday was The Moment Denise remembered first when reflecting on the day.
A small group of volunteers had gathered afterwards to debrief and look at 140 portraits taken by Dale, a local professional photographer
“Look forward to doing this again,” she wrote in a message, signed “Head Cradler.”
Washing the hair of strangers in a church faciity where “sinks are at a premium” is not for sissies. In addition to bending over all day long, in a back-aching posture, with only occasional minute-long breaks, is no cake-walk. It’s also the station where lice and nits are first spotted. And were again this year, and handled with the greatest sensitivity and discretion.
Like all the volunteers you met at Abbotsford Connect, Denise exudes warmth, compassion, and has a superb sense of humor!
Wonderful to meet you, Denise
