From the AAHA. The Dodgers faced the Pirates in the 2015 AAHA Mosquito season curtain raiser at Lions Park on April 1st. The Pirates came out firing in the top half of the first with timely hits by Nick Mangum, Landon Wakelyn and Koben Bath to open the game with three runs in the top half of the first inning. Jazzie Ashton took the mound for the Pirates and held the Dodgers top of the order scoreless in the bottom half with some accurate pitching backed by some strong defensive Pirate plays in the field.
The Pirates scored another in the 2nd but Bryn Alexander buckled down and shut down to heart of the Pirate order to limit the Pirate lead at 4 to 1 after two innings. Tyne Alexander and Chase Van Der Meulen did an outstanding job of limiting the Pirate offense to just 1 run over the next two innings; while the bats of the Dodgers heated up in the 3rd and 4thinning getting 4 runs in both innings to lead 9 to 5 at the end of the 4th. In the open 5th inning, Ryan Sullivan retired the Pirates with 3 strikeouts to close the victory for the Dodgers.
Player of the game for the Dodgers was Jack Pratt who led the way with 2 hits and a walk as well as a solid defensive game with a couple of unassisted putouts.
The Dodgers and Pirates meet again on the last game of the regular season in which we shall see dramatic improvement by both teams on both side of the ball.
