From the City of Abbotsford. The Emergency Preparedness Week is a week long national reminder intended to raise awareness and offer information and tips to help prepare businesses, individuals and families for the possibility of an emergency, or disaster incident. An emphasis is placed on the importance of taking steps now to prepare for a situation that can occur anytime, anywhere. Emergency preparedness is a shared responsibility, and we all need to be prepared at the personal, community, provincial and/or federal level.
During Emergency Preparedness Week the Abbotsford Emergency Program will encourage city residents to do their part.
Be prepared:
- Know the risks specific to your community (ie. Flooding, severe weather, earthquakes, etc).
- Develop a Family Emergency Plan and practice it.
- Prepare an Emergency Kit for your house and your vehicle that will allow you to be self-sustained for a minimum of 72 Hours.
