As part of the effort to help bring attention to the many issues girls face around the world, GirlKIND asked the British Columbia Government to mark this day in conjunction with the UN’s “Day of the Girl,” as “Every Girl Matters Day,” in BC.
We are hosting a small celebration to mark this occasion from 1-3pm at The Reach Gallery Museum. Honorable Minister Mike De Jong will be joining us and presenting us with the Proclamation for Every Girl Matters Day. This is a free event open to the public to come network with others to come get involved and help celebrate this day. Coffee & cake will be served. We will also be showing a film screening of the critically acclaimed film “Girl Rising,” which documents the lives of girls around the world that are making a difference in their communities. An art area will be set up for individuals to create inspiring pieces of art.
GirlKIND has initiated a worldwide “Every Girl Matters Photo Campaign,” asking the general public to participate in answering the question as to why girls matters. This is another effort to help raise awareness on the issue of “Gendercide,” and the many gender discriminations females face around the world. More info on the campaign is available by visiting www.girlkind.org
