Sunday’s snow is forecast to change to freezing rain followed by rain overnight which may cause slippery conditions on some of the Valley’s roads.

Fraser Valley – west including Abbotsford continued
Freezing rain is forecast to change to rain tonight.
This is a warning that an extended period of freezing rain is expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.
A strong Arctic ridge of high pressure lies over the British Columbia Interior. Cold Arctic air being pushed out to the coast is causing strong northeasterly winds through the mainland inlets of the central and north coasts. The combination of strong winds and cold temperatures will result in cold wind chill values near minus 20 overnight for inland sections of the North Coast.
Meanwhile a moist Pacific front moving over a retreating Arctic airmass continues to produce snow to Howe Sound, Whistler and Eastern Fraser Valley. 10 to 20 cm of snowfall accumulation has been reported for these regions. Additional 15 cm snow is expected tonight before the snow changes over to rain or freezing rain over Eastern Fraser Valley and Howe Sound. Over Whistler, snow will continue through Monday morning.
Freezing rain over the western sections of the Fraser Valley is forecast to change to rain this evening. Freezing rain is expected to spread to the Eastern Fraser Valley early this evening and change over to rain by early Monday morning.
