Heat In The Street Returns

Submitted. The very popular HEAT IN THE STREET ball hockey series returns to Abbotsford for its 4th season on July 10 at Rick Hansen Secondary School.

The principal objective of the Heat in the Street program is to make better connections between
Abbotsford’s emergency responders and the neighborhoods they serve while promoting the many
positive benefits of sports. This event is staffed mostly by volunteers and has been growing in
popularity since its inception in 2011.

The concept behind the hockey games is that kids
play shoulder to shoulder with firefighters, police
officers and paramedics in a fun, non-competitive
environment. Two games are run concurrently,
one for kids 12 and under and one for teens. All
the equipment is provided.
.
Besides the hockey games, other activities will
include games for children, prizes, tours of
emergency vehicles and other fun activities.
Special surprise guests will be on hand and
snacks will be provided by local sponsors.

Three games will be held this summer with the hope that families from the nearby neighborhoods will
walk to the sites and enjoy the evening. Event details are as follows:

 Game 1- July 10 from 7-9pm at Rick Hansen Secondary School, 31150 Blueridge Drive
 Game 2 – July 31 from 7-9pm at Terry Fox Elementary School, 3071 Babich Street
