From The Heat.The Abbotsford Heat lost 3-1 to the Lake Erie Monsters (AHL affiliate of Colorado Avalanche) on Saturday night at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre (AESC). The Heat are now 4-4-0-1 on the season.

Heat rookie Corban Knight scored his second goal in as many games, and is now tied with Paul Byron for the Heat scoring lead with seven points (3+4).
Corban Knight gave the Heat a 1-0 lead with a power play goal at 9:46 of the first period. Knight’s third goal of the season was assisted by Ben Street and Drew MacKenzie. Both goalies were busy in the first period, with Reto Berra making 11 saves for Abbotsford and Calvin Pickard making 9 saves.
The Lake Erie Monsters fought back in the second period, with early goals by Mike Sgarbossa on the power play at 3:48 and Joey Hishon at 4:56. The Monsters had a 2-1 lead and outshot the Heat 17 to 12 through 40 minutes of play.
The Monsters scored again early in the third with a goal by former Heat forward Guillaume Desbiens at 4:55. Despite eight shots in the third period, Abbotsford was unable to score on Lake Erie’s Calvin Pickard.
Reto Berra made 24 saves on 27 shots, while Calvin Pickard stopped 23 of 24 shots for Lake Erie.
Abbotsford finished one for five on the man advantage, and killed off two of three Lake Erie power plays.
The Heat will head out on the road next week to face the Utica Comets (AHL affiliate of Vancouver Canucks) and Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens). The Heat will then return home for games against the San Antonio Rampage (AHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers) on November 5th and 6th and the Toronto Marlies (AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs) on November 9th and 10th. Saturday November 9th will feature an appearance by NHL Hall of Famer Mike Bossy, who will be available for autographs before the game on the AESC concourse at 5:30pm.
