A 15 year old boy who had apparently taken a family car without permission was caught speeding by police on Hwy 1 around 2 am, April 20.
The young male was trying to get back home with a family vehicle before anyone could notice it was missing. Unfortunately the young boy crossed paths with a Fraser Valley Traffic Services officer westbound near Bradner Road in Abbotsford, BC. “The vehicle was travelling at extreme speeds – 175 Km/H in 100 Km/H zone,” said Cpl Robert Mc Donald Lower Mainland Traffic Services.
The vehicle was stopped without incident. The young male explained to the officer that he used the vehicle to meet a young girl he recently met on a school trip. That meeting did not go as he had hoped. “Though the young man then had to face his parents and explain why their 2008 Cadillac CTS was being impounded, and why he received $759 in tickets, the alternative could have been much worse” says Cpl Mc Donald.
The young driver was served with a violation ticket for
Excessive Speed sec 148 (1) Motor vehicle Act $ 483.00
And
No driver’s license sec 24(3) Motor Vehicle Act $ 276.00
Plus a 7 days vehicle impound.
