John Welsh offers up a wide variety of musical styles as part of the Envision Financial Concert in the Park Series
On August 16 from 6PM to 8PM, the Envision Financial Concert in the Park Series is proud to present John Welsh at the Kariton Art Gallery stage in Mill Lake Park (2387 Ware Street) in Abbotsford.
Over the last 10 years, John Welsh has been performing his eclectic style of music for audiences around BC and the greater Vancouver region. He got his start in the college house party scene playing songs everyone could sing along to. John draws influences from artists such as Ben Harper, Gypsy Kings, Sam Roberts and Joel Plaskett. His songs are often inspired by his travel experiences and blend elements of folk, surf rock, reggae and Latin. Welsh has recorded and performed with various acts such as the Welsh Brothers, Los Amigos and Rhythm and Cello. He has played hundreds of parties, shows and events throughout the greater Vancouver area sharing the stage with artists such as Tom Freund, Current Swell, Daniel Wesley and T. Nile.
Welsh is currently finishing up a new EP in the studio recording with producer Digory Smallz (Joshua Hyslop/Young Liars/Oh No Yoko!). The EP holds down a strong rhythm section with Five Alarm Funk drummer Tim Proznick and bass player Darren Parris (Daniel Wesley). Lyrically, his songs capture an energy flowing naturally within layers of organic instrumentation, adopting a sound unique unto its own. John is preparing for a 2014 spring release of his new EP. His lively style and energetic backing band will be sure to get you dancing and singing along to the music.
August 16 will also be Kid’s Day at the Envision Financial Concert in the Park. It runs with the concert from 6pm to 8pm with an art corner, mascots, a bouncy castle, face painting and more! If you have this Saturday free, make sure to bring the kids for a fun filled evening at Mill Lake Park and the Kariton Art Gallery and Boutique.
