From the Kodiaks. The Kodiaks showed their mettle on Monday night in Abbotsford by shooting down the Pilot’s 4-1 and advancing to the conference final.
The Pilots played a solid first period outshooting the Kodiaks 14-10, but were unable to solve Ben Giesbrecht. An ill-timed boarding penalty allowed the Bears to take a 1-0 advantage on the ensuing powerplay which they carried into the dressing room after one.
The home squad picked it up in the second frame outshooting the visitors 15-9 and put up three more goals to take a four goal lead into the third period.
No miracle comebacks were in the offing as the Pilots went out with a whimper rather than a bang scoring just once making the final 4-1 ending their season.
The Kodiaks outshot the Pilots 37-33.
Scott McHaffie was named first star with a goal and an assist. Quinncy Leroux was named second star with two assists, while affiliate Davin Padgham was named third star with a goal. Spencer McHaffie chipped in a goal and an assist and Aaron Markin added two assists.
