Submitted. Gallery 7 Theatre will be holding open auditions for the final production of their 2014/2015 Refined by Fire season, 110 Stories by Sarah Tuft, on Tuesday, February 17 at 6:30PM. The auditions are open to all male and female performers ages 20 – 70 and will be held at Gallery 7 Theatre’s new rehearsal hall at Huntington Station, #100 – 34595 3rd Ave, Abbotsford.
Images of 9/11 are forever etched in our collective memory. These are the stories of people who risked their lives to save those trapped in the burning inferno of the Twin Towers and who desperately tried to rescue the ones buried under the smoldering debris following their collapse. Through their unimaginable testimonies and first-person accounts, a story of hope, compassion and even humour surges from the ashes of New York City’s darkest day, culminating in a powerful and cathartic experience that celebrates the human capacity to rise above adversity and tragedy in a unifying effort to save lives.
“110 Stories is a powerful and gripping story of how ordinary humans did extraordinary things during one of New York’s darkest hours,” explains Ken Hildebrandt, Executive/Artistic Director of Gallery 7 Theatre. “We’re doing something very different with this production in that we’re taking away all the trappings of a normal theatre production to bring sharper focus on the characters and their incredible accounts of 9/11. We’re performing it in the Great Hall of The Reach Gallery and Museum, and will be done with minimal costuming and sets, and under work-lights rather than fancy stage lighting. The production should feel more like we’re in a make-shift incident command post than a theatre. The Reach Gallery & Museum makes for the perfect venue for this ‘site-specific’ experience.”
110 Stories will run May 1 & 2, 7 – 9, 2015 @ 7:30 PM with discount matinees on May 2 & 9 at 2:00 PM at The Reach Gallery & Museum, 32388 Veterans Way, Abbotsford. Call-back auditions will be held on February 21 and rehearsals will commence the week of March 9th. The production will be directed by Carissa Boynton, who last directed productions of Tuesdays with Morrie and The Foreigner for the theatre.
