From The Abbotsford Angels. Tadpole 2 Report: The Orioles completed a perfect season with a victory over the Wild Cats in the final regular season matchup at Little Delair Park.
Trevor Hodgins and Jake Davenport got things started on the mound for O’s, racking up 5Ks between them. Some fine defensive work in the field from Ronan Sexton and Jimmy Boulanger helped in shutting down the Wild Cats, who had some booming bats at work from several big sluggers.
The Orioles hitters started slowly, showing patience early on, waiting for good pitches to hit. Later that patience paid off as the O’s started driving the ball into the gaps, allowing them to open up a lead. From there they didn’t look back.
Offensive highlights included a hard hit from Trey Gairdner who followed it up with excellent, aggressive baserunning, and a line-drive up the middle off the bat of Sammy Friess that nailed the Coach who was pitching!
The Wild Cats played some great defense in the final inning, but by then the damage had been done and the Orioles finished up the season with 10 wins against 0 losses.
Orioles 17
Wild Cats 11
