I, for one, welcome our new feline overlords, and am pleased to see our leaders sucking up to them instead of Mike de Jong.

    Also, cat beards: http://cat-beard.com/

    Jim Evans Says:
Can I assume that it is Mike who wrote this? The personal vendetta against Ross is pretty sad and it takes away credibility of this news source… “doing with their time ” That is absolutely right, it is her time. It is her personal facebook page. And do you know how much time it takes to watch a cat video and press share? Not nearly as much as this “paper” has spent writing and publishing this “story”. Why don’t you hold yourself to the same account, what are they doing with their time, what are you doing with yours? The difference is you are complaining about something that took no time and was done on personal time and space, versus you, wasting journalistic effort on this. It’s not as if she is hanging out smoking crack and calling other public figures by crude bigoted names, or committing election fraud and getting away with it.

    Mike Archer Says:
Hey Jim, Absolutely it was me (Mike) that put this together. Sorry if I’ve struck a nerve but, believe it or not there is a point being made. OK, we’ll call it her personal Facebook page. I’m not sure what difference it makes but I’d like the people in Abbotsford to ask themselves why we have a need to wrap certain politicians in a protective bubble. An enormous number of people in Abbotsford love Patricia but anyone who has actually had the dubious pleasure of sitting through a number of council meetings comes to very similar conclusions about most of the people around the table. I don’t think it does us a great deal of good to treat these people as though they deserve some sort of special treatment. If we are not supposed to make fun of the people who draw public salaries then I think we have to question what sort of a City we are building. My intent has never been to offend but to poke well-deserved fun at some people who take themselves far too seriously. Maybe if the media treated them less like people atop some sort of venerable ladder we would question more of their decisions. Again – no intent to offend but this City most definitely needs a sense of humour lest it start believing its own PR.

I don’t think this post was intended to convey righteous indignation, but maybe I’m not reading the right things into it.

Occasionally things on the internet aren’t serious.

Jim Evans Says: If you don’t like her, that’s fine, I don’t see how acting like a playground bully making fun of people is professional or helpful, why not put out real news to support your position.

  • The Editor says:

    Mike Archer Says:
Who said I don’t like her? I don’t think you understand that the point was humour and satire Jim. Or maybe it’s just that I’m making fun of someone you like and respect. Sorry but I won’t always be able to stick to making fun of the people you want me to. She’s a public figure for gods sake. If she can’t take a little ribbing from the media maybe she should be doing something more suited to her fragile temperament.

  • The Editor says:

    Jim Evans Says:
Perhaps you should get into the comic business then, I thought Today was a source of news? I don’t think expecting people have personal time to do what they with is special treatment, I think that is fair of everybody. You can tell it’s her personal page because you have to add her as a friend, and it is not an Abbotsford page or Councillor Ross page… Again I am not suggesting she get special treatment. I am only suggesting that today media report on news.

  • The Editor says:

Mike Archer Says: OK Jim. Sorry to have offended you.

  • Sandra Jenkins says:

What Jim said. Yeah. This is a news page? Really? Just looks to me like you’re scraping the bottom of the barrel in finding ways to attack anybody whose opinions you don’t like.

  • Sobe says:

People please cough up your hairballs and get past this already.
Editor, what do you google in your spare time? Please tell me it’s not only news related. Or are you a cat person too?

  • DeceitinDrugs says:

I think the entire article comes down to one thing:
Patricia Ross’s time on facebook awing and cooing
about cats is her prerogative, but, if one looks
beyond her interest in cute cats, she rarely speaks
about the so many important issues facing our city
nor does she have a twitter or facebook site, where
the public can dialoque with her about various city
    issues.

Why is that? Cats interest her, but, as a Abbotsford Councillor,
is she really interested in dialoque about city issues with the general
public, the people, outside the cities’committees and members of Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce, Exec and select members of big business/developers in this city?

    I would say, no!

I recently saw Patricia Ross in a vote at city hall and she started
to put her hand up to vote yes, but, when she looked around and
didn’t see the others raise their hand, she quickly pulled her hand
down, only, to put it up with the usual yes supporters for select developers in the city, which inc. John Smith, Dave Loewen and Bill Macgregor.

Yes, she can enjoy the cute cats on facebook like the rest of us,
but, I hope this article will make all councillors to take notice and
realize that open and honest dialoque with Abbotsford residents is sorely lacking.

Methinks it is time for Patricia to retire. If she can’t make a decision in council meetings without gawking around to see who is voting which way, (yea or nay) TIME TO GO!
