The Pirates needed just five innings to confirm their spot at the top of the Mosquito ranks with a 14-4 mercy rule victory over a game Mariners squad.
The Pirates lost just one game all season, and that type of dominance showed in the Cup Championship game as they raced out to an early lead and never looked like losing.
Mariners coaches selected Maguire Wakelyn as the MVP of the game, while the Pirates coaches selected Nick Rabinovitch as the MVP for the Mariners in a losing cause.
Both teams are to be credited for a well played game that was a fitting end to an excellent season of Mosquito baseball at Lions Park and Grant Park in Abbotsford in 2013.
