Third installment of the Envision Financial Coffee House Concert Series welcomes Rhythm & Cello to the stage
Abbotsford, BC—On May 31 from 7:30PM to 9:30PM, the Envision Financial Coffee House Concert Series is proud to present Rhythm & Cello at SippChai Café (31205 Maclure Rd) in Abbotsford.
Rhythm & Cello is a live music duo that blends acoustic guitar, cello and vocals for an upbeat performance that keeps fans coming back for more. John Welsh and Stephanie Glegg of Los Amigos have branched out from the high-energy fanfare of their six-piece band to create a unique sound that combines the richness of cello with acoustic rhythms from a variety of genres. Original songs showcase a combination of folk, reggae and Latin styles to satisfy both their fan following and first-time listeners alike. The duo also performs unique arrangements of familiar songs ranging from classics by the Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel to the world music sound of the Gypsy Kings.
Singer/songwriter John Welsh grew up listening to the vocal harmonies of 60’s artists such as Simon and Garfunkel and the Beatles. He got his musical inspiration while living in Guatemala where he was influenced by the lively rhythms and sounds of Latin America. Welsh also studied reggae with several Latin American guitarists and began looking for local musicians who shared his vision of bringing world music to a more mainstream audience.
Stephanie Glegg is a classically trained cellist from Vancouver, BC. She plays a cello made in Austria in 1752. Glegg has toured across Canada with Celtic rock band Shoofly from Victoria, BC to St. John’s, Newfoundland and has extensive experience performing both classical and popular songs.
