Submitted. After just over two months of operation, the district’s revised bus operations remain busy. With a new registration, fee level and payment process introduced for 2013-14, total ridership is down about 3.5% (to 2,652 student riders.)
The option of using debit/credit cards for payment this year resulted in a faster, more convenient process for parents. However, between ‘eligible’ and ‘school of choice’ riders, there are just over 1,000 unpaid riders and $263,400 in outstanding payments.
The district sent out payment notices in early November, which will be followed by a second and third notice on unpaid accounts. The district may discontinue transportation services if there is no payment after the third and final notice.
