To Premier Christy Clark and Minister Peter Fassbender:
We, the undersigned, request the B.C. government rebate all citizens of the province with the savings incurred by the ongoing labour dispute with the BC Teachers’ Federation.
Media reports indicate that the three weeks of rotating strikes saved government roughly $50 million, and full closures save $82.5 million per week. As of July 2014, the Canadian Taxpayers Federation conservatively estimates that $200 million has been saved during the labour stoppage. That means $40 per British Columbian ($160 for a family of four) could be rebated immediately.
