Submitted. On Thursday, December 12 at 8:00 pm a 29 year old woman was walking Southbound on the sidewalk in the 2400 block of Gladwin Road. She was approached from behind by a man who propositioned her. As she attempted to walk away, the man sped up and continued making comments to her, while attempting to expose himself. The victim tried to dial 911 but the man abruptly threw her to the ground. The victim bravely scrambled to her feet and ran to a nearby apartment building to call for police. The suspect fled the area. The victim sustained minor injuries but is understandably very shaken from the attack.
The suspect is described as a man in his 30’s, 5’6”-5’8” tall with medium toned skin, a mustache and medium length hair to his jaw line. He was wearing grey track pants and a black coat.
The Abbotsford Police Department’s Major Crime Unit has assumed the investigation of this extremely concerning stranger-attack incident. Investigators are appealing for witnesses who may have been in the area of the 2400 block of Gladwin Road (adjacent to Mill Lake Park) around 8:00 pm last night to come forward.
In addition, we want all citizens to be diligent about their personal safety. Whenever possible, people should walk in pairs or groups and take paths that are well lit and close to homes and businesses. In addition, all suspicious persons and activities, particularly around Mill Lake Park, should be reported to police.
