Singletree Winery has officially opened in the Fraser Valley. Abbotsford’s Estell family has evolved from farmers to winery owners with the aim to be a heart of agri-business in BC. The family is proud to invite visitors to their charming little winery on weekends to take in the sights and flavours of the wine country as they taste. singletreewinery.com
Singletree Winery is now open in Mt. Lehman. Commonly used in the late 1800s, the single harness yoke, known as the Singletree, was an essential tool for pioneering farmers. It was the use of the Singletree, among other implements, that allowed those who saw the potential of the Mt. Lehman area to use horses to clear the land, and make way for farming. This was no easy feat.
The Etsell family, Fraser Valley residents, possess the same work ethic as the early settlers, and farming also happens to be in their blood. After growing up with families which centered their lives around farming, Garnet and Debbie Etsell are proud to carry on the tradition of working the land with their children.
The Etsells realize the potential for Mt. Lehman to be a heart of agri-business in BC. After gaining experience growing produce and operating a thriving turkey farm, the Etsells have now ventured into BC’s exciting wine industry with Singletree.
“Mt. Lehman’s soils create the perfect conditions for growing bumper crops of fruits and vegetables,” remarks Garnet Etsell. “Now we are growing grapes, and aim to express their flavours in wines that reflect Mt. Lehman.”
Under their Singletree banner, and with careful attention to the land, the Etsells are committed to showing the world what the Fraser Valley is capable of. Their focused portfolio of wines, with grapes grown by second generation family member Andrew Etsell, and crafted by winemaker Matt Dumayne, offers wine lovers the aromatic, crisp, and juicy flavours their terroir brings. Their inaugural releases, made in Summerland at Okanagan Crush Pad while the Singletree winery was being built, include Siegerrebe, a blended Farmhand White, and a Pinot Noir made from Okanagan Valley fruit.
Visitors to the quaint winery can take in the sights and flavours of wine country as they taste the wines, and bring home a taste of the region. As Singletree sets itself to express the Fraser Valley, the winery team invites wine lovers to discover Singletree wines today.
