Update to Stabbing on Switzer Avenue

Two suspects have now been charged in relation to Saturday’s stabbing. 28 year old Michael Froese has been charged with one count of Aggravated Assault and one count of Assault. 36 year old Nicole Carlson has been charged with two counts of Assault.

In August of 2009 Michael Froese was arrested and charged for the murder of Paul Jonathon Denis in Abbotsford. Froese was convicted of Manslaughter and received a four year sentence. He was released from prison on warrant expiry in September of 2012.

Previously submitted. Yesterday morning just after 11:00 a.m. Abbotsford Police and BC Ambulance were called to the 33500 block of Switzer Avenue for a reported stabbing. When first responders arrived on scene they located a 33 year old Abbotsford man suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was assessed as being in medical distress and an air ambulance was dispatched to provide him emergency trauma care.

Abbotsford Police Department Patrol Division officers, Forensic Identification Unit members and Major Crime Unit detectives all began investigating the incident. By late yesterday afternoon those investigative efforts resulted in the arrest of two suspects. A 28 year old man and a 36 year old woman, both from Abbotsford, are now in custody. The investigation is continuing. Very fortunately, the victim’s condition in hospital has stabilized.
