Submitted. The Reach Gallery Museum Abbotsford is going distinctly Star Wars with its Sith Happens @The Reach family event on Saturday, July 13, 2013 from 12:30 to 4pm at The Reach, 32388 Veterans Way, Abbotsford.
Pose with Han Solo and Queen Amidala cut-outs, decorate Star Wars cookies with delectable Pam’s Cookies, create Yoda puppets, Princess Leia buns, color and take paper piggybanks, watch the Making of Star Wars, have your face painted by Lilac as your favourite Star Wars character, and feel free to arrive dressed in Star Wars duds!
“With an exceptional Star Wars trilogy related exhibit by a very talented Fraser Valley artist opening at The Reach this summer, our team got really excited about creating a fun free event that the entire family can enjoy and engage in, not to mention our volunteers,” explains Ingrid Epp, Director of Development, The Reach.
The event begins at 12:30pm with Chilliwack artist Chris Woods of the new Reach exhibition SANDSTORM giving a rare behind-the-scenes tour of the exhibition followed by a sketching demo of a live Storm Trooper. The tour and sketch connect into Woods’ exhibit SANDSTORM (July 11 – September 8 at The Reach) which features 14 new paintings based on the original Star Wars trilogy and reinterprets the story through the eyes of Darth Vader.
The fun continues all afternoon with ongoing family activities including at 2:30pm and 3:30pm for those fans who crave that in-depth Star Wars experience, The Making of Star Wars, a 45 minute documentary about how A New Hope was made.
Admission to Sith Happens @The Reach – distinctly Star Wars on Saturday, July 13th from 12:30 to 4pm at The Reach is FREE thanks to event sponsor Aldergrove Credit Union. For more event information and details call: 604-864-8087, email info@thereach.ca or visit www.thereach.ca.
