Summer at The Reach takes Shape and Form with two Fraser Valley Artists!

Abbotsford, BC – On Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 7pm, The Reach Gallery Museum Abbotsford celebrates summer with a public opening reception for two exhibitions Shape and Form, which pairs Fraser Valley artists Heinz Klassen and Ted Driediger, and Drawing and Colouring: A Visual Diary which presents Klassen’s intimate drawings of the world around him.

Explains Acting Executive Director and Curator, Laura Schneider, “These exhibitions bring together the works of longtime friends, visual artist Klassen and ceramist Driediger of Yarrow, BC, who both draw inspiration from observations in nature but whose artistic offerings are very different in form. They are both skilled technicians with years of experience and we are pleased to be able to present the works of these two accomplished artists who have been contributing to our creative community for decades.”

Heinz Klassen studied art at Vancouver Community College (Langara) and the Alberta College of Art and Design, and his work has been exhibited at the Vancouver Art Gallery and the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery at UBC. In Drawing and Colouring: A Visual Diary Klassen presents a suite of small drawings that record his experiences of various places, people and events.

Ted Driediger received a diploma for ceramics and painting from the Kootenay School of Art before establishing a pottery studio in Yarrow. Thoroughly committed to his medium, Driediger is a regular participant in exhibitions, craft shows and sales and open studio events in the region.

Meet the artists and enjoy refreshments at the exhibition opening reception on August 6th at 7pm at The Reach Gallery Museum, 32388 Veterans Way. Shape and Form and Drawing and Colouring: A Visual Diary will show until October 4, 2015.
