Submitted. Monday morning an elderly Abbotsford resident returned home to find a side entry door to his home ajar. He briefly examined the broken door jam and located an “inmate identification card” on the ground and quickly exited fearing the suspect was still inside. The man contacted the Abbotsford Police Department and Patrol Division officers re-attended the residence with him. No suspect was located on scene but a laptop belonging to the homeowner was missing. Police began investigating by speaking with neighbours and looking for the person named on the “inmate card”.
At 1:10 pm the Abbotsford Police Department received a call from an electronics store in the 32700 block of South Fraser Way. An employee there reported dealing with a customer, about 30 minutes prior, who asked to have his computer’s password bypassed. The employee wisely checked the computer against a sales database and became suspicious. The customer left prior to the call to police but was nonetheless captured on surveillance video .
Abbotsford Police are now requesting the public’s assistance with identifying this suspect.
