Reduce your fines and help feed those in need!
Submitted. Lower your library fines and help feed those in need! From November 12 to December 10, you can “pay” your fines with food. It’s simple – bring non-perishable food items to any Fraser Valley Regional Library location and have your fines reduced. One food item equals $2 in fines, and up to $30 of fines owed per library account can be waived during the Food for Fines campaign. All items collected will be donated to the local food bank.
“FVRL strives to continually build meaningful partnership with various local community agencies,” says Rob O’Brennan, FVRL’s CEO. “This particular collaboration is a great way for our customers to reduce or eliminate their overdue fines, and provide much needed donations to our local food banks.”
Only commercially packaged, undamaged and unexpired food items will be accepted. Local pantries are especially in need of: pasta and pasta sauce; canned meats/fruits/vegetables; cold cereals; baby food; peanut butter and jam; rice, flour, sugar, oats (in 1 kg bags); Boost and Ensure; soups and stews.
