Abbotsford Synchronized Swimmer Wins Gold at Provincials – Heading to National Qualifier
Submitted. The BC Aquasonics were gold medalists at the BC Provincial Synchronized Swimming Championships in Victoria this weekend. The Junior A and Combo Teams and the Junior Duet won gold in each of their respective events while the Junior B Team won bronze.

Taking first place for the BC Aquasonics:
- Junior A Team coached by Susan Kemper and Tanya Magee (Cannibals Routine) with Alanna Stobbe (Abbotsford)
- Junior Combo Team coached by Susan Kemper (Zombies Routine) with Alanna Stobbe (Abbotsford)
- Junior Duet of Judith Gerhalter and Marlene Gerhalter (Surrey) coached by Susan Kemper
“Winning gold at the Provincial Championships is a huge confidence builder for our teams,” says Head Coach Susan Kemper. “Our next stop is the National Qualifier at the end of March and these wins will give us the boost we need to finish well when we are competing against the rest of the country.”
The Aquasonics also dominated in the figures and technical skills competitions, with five Aquasonics placing in the Top 10 in figures and six in the Top 10 in Technical Skills, again setting up the teams to place well nationally.
The Junior B team, coached by Tanya Magee and Suzanna Goddard, won the Bronze medal with their Aliens routine.

The three teams and the duet compete next at the 2015 Canadian Qualifier Championships, March 24 to 29, 2015 at Saanich Commonwealth Place in Victoria. The National Qualifier brings together the best synchronized swimming teams from across the country in the National Stream 13-15, Junior (16-18 years) and Senior (18+) age categories.
