Submitted. Fraser Health is pleased to announce Tom Kim has been appointed to its Board of Directors, by the Province of British Columbia.
Mr. Kim is the director of finance and operations at Delta’s Southpointe Academy, an independent K to 12 university preparatory school. Prior to this position, Kim was the president of The Art Institute of Vancouver where he started as campus director in 2004. Under his direction as president, the school unified four smaller locations into one campus centered on academic excellence.
“Tom’s experience and his commitment to operational efficiencies to ensure the greatest value is delivered will be an asset in his new role as he supports the Fraser Health board in its focus of sustainable, cost-effective and quality patient care,” said Health Minister Terry Lake.
“Fraser Health welcomes Tom and looks forward to working with him as we continue to make strides in providing the best care for patients and their families,” said Karen Matty, Chair of the Board. “His professional experience will strongly support our work in providing optimal services to the patients and families we serve. “

The Board of Directors consists of nine directors appointed by the Minister of Health to provide governance and vision for Fraser Health. It works with management to establish overall strategic direction, reviews long-term plans, and ensures appropriate community consultation.

Tae (Tom) Hwan Kim
Tom Kim is currently the director of finance and operations at Southpointe Academy, an independent K to 12 university preparatory school. Prior to this, Tom Kim joined The Art Institute of Vancouver as campus director in 2004 and subsequently became president in 2006. In this role, he worked to create a performance-based, student-focused culture that attracted superior talent, both students and employees. His unrelenting commitment to driving sustainable operational efficiencies ensures the greatest value is delivered to students/customers. Under his direction, the school unified four smaller locations into an 80,000 square foot campus centered on academic excellence achieving degree granting status in 2010.
Prior to joining The Art Institute of Vancouver, Mr. Kim served in various sales and marketing leadership positions for such organizations as Noranda Inc. and Sonoco Canada Corporation. He has an educational foundation that includes a Master of Business Administration (Finance) and a Bachelor of Commerce (International Business & Marketing) from McGill University. He holds a Diplome d’Education Collegiale – Pure & Applied Sciences from Champlain Regional College in Quebec. He is fluent in English and French.
