By Anne Russell. Do you know an outstanding alumnus of UFV?
UFV alumni can be found making a difference around the corner and across the world. And the UFV Alumni Association wants to celebrate them.

There are more than 36,000 alumni from the University of the Fraser Valley working in a variety of industries and sectors and making a significant impact on our economy and our communities.
The UFV Alumni Association will recognize two exceptional alumni through the Distinguished Alumni Awards. One award will be conferred upon a graduate who has achieved outstanding distinction in their career, in educational achievement, or by providing exceptional community service. The second award, the Young Distinguished Alumni Award, goes to a graduate of UFV who is 34 years of age or younger who has achieved outstanding distinction in the same categories.
Winners of these awards will join the ranks of past recipients including 2016 Distinguished Alumni Award winner and MA Crim alumnus Gary Bass, a career RCMP officer who served as Deputy Commissioner for Canada West, and 2016 Young Distinguished Alumni Award Shannon Thiesen, an alumna from the Teacher Education program who is pursuing dual passions as an artist and a teacher.
The nomination process has been streamlined this year.
“We want to make it easier for people to nominate outstanding alumni, so we are just asking for names and some basic information about the nominee,” notes Daniel Goertz, acting Manager of Alumni Relations. “We will do the legwork on the nominees that we decide to consider as serious candidates.”
The deadline for nominations is Mon, May 1, 2017.
