By Arts Editor Doreen Jung. On November 1, the Valley Concert Society presented Megan Latham, Mezzo Soprano and Joni Henson, Soprano. They were accompanied by pianist, Betty Suderman. Both singers are regulars with the Canadian Opera Company. They performed to a packed house in the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium and were rewarded with a standing ovation.

Megan Latham grew up in Abbotsford and went to Toronto to pursue her career. She has enjoyed the distinction of recognition in opera, oratorio and recital. Her voice has been described as ‘clear and honey-coloured’. She is a regular with the Canadian Opera Company.
Joni Henson is described as one of the most thrilling young performers on the opera stage today. Recent successes on the opera stage include Elisabetta in DON CARLOS, Fiordiligi in Mozart’s COSI FAN TUTTE, the Foreign Princess in RUSALKA and Gutrune in Wagner’s GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG, all for the Canadian Opera Company.
Betty Suderman is well known to Abbotsford audiences and is noted for her sensitive musicianship. She is especially in demand as accompanist for performances of Lieder and chamber music. She has recorded extensively with choirs and violinists.
