3rd Mission Muse Awards April 23

Submitted. The District of Mission Cultural Resources Commission (CRC) invites the community to attend the 3rd Mission Muse Awards, Wednesday, April 23 at 7pm at the Cafetorium, Clarke Theatre, 33700 Prentis Avenue.  The awards, coordinated by the CRC, honour and celebrate the tremendous contribution the arts make to the quality of life and economy of the community.

 

Mission and area is home to a great wealth of creative people. The Muse Awards, being held during BC Arts & Culture Week, celebrate all the ways the work of artists enrich our lives, as well as providing an opportunity to acknowledge those who mentor, support and advocate for the arts.

 

The Muse Awards recipients for 2014 are:

Music – Jennie Bice, Alex  Rake & the Leaves – emerging; Visual Arts –

Jo-Anne Hartley; Performing Arts – The  Le’qa:mel Drummers & Dancers, Gerwyn Mills; Literary Arts – Daphne Sleigh; Arts Advocate –  Wendy Lewington, Liisa Nessim, What’s On Magazine, Mission Optimists Club.

 

Valerie Hundert, artist, mentor and energetic community volunteer will be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The gala event includes light refreshment and entertainment by guitarist

Charles Aarons and the Serenata Singers. The awards ceremony is free to
