Abbotsford Police Identify And Arrest Cat Burglar In Same Day

Submitted. In the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 29, 2014, a suspect entered a residence in the 2700 block of Blackham Drive. Accessing the home through a bedroom window, he took a laptop and a smartphone that were in close proximity to a female resident who was sleeping. Abbotsford Police Department Patrol Division and Forensic Identification officers attended the scene and gathered evidence. A suspect was identified.

APD Crime Reduction Unit officers conducted surveillance on the 17 year old male suspect later that evening. They observed him reach into an open window at a residence in the 34600 block of Sandon Drive and quickly moved in and arrested him. The suspect had the smartphone that was stolen from the Blackham Drive residence on him at the time of arrest.

The 17 year old youth has now been charged with two counts of Break and Enter. The collective effort of various APD resources resulted in a quick identification of a cat burglary suspect, the immediate targeting of that suspect and his swift arrest.
