Submitted. At 1:30 PM. On Sunday, February 17, 2013, the Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service (AFRS) responded to a report of a structure fire at 2586 Parkview St.
On arrival, AFRS crews found a duplex with light smoke coming from one of the units. The occupants of the unit on arrival were standing in the entrance and due to medical reasons required assistance out of the building. Fire crews were able to contain the fire to the area of origin in the one unit.
Eight AFRS response vehicles were dispatched and 32 firefighters attended the incident. BC Hydro also attended the property. The occupants of the unit were assessed by BCAS and cleared. Emergency Support Services was brought in to provide temporary assistance with temporary accommodation to the occupants until their home could be made safe for their return.
The total fire loss was estimated at more than $10,000.00. The fire cause is under investigation at this time.
