The Abbotsford Arts Council Presents its 1st annual “Anonymous Art Show Fundraiser” at the Kariton Art Gallery

Suubmitted.  The Abbotsford Arts Council is pleased to present their 1st annual Anonymous Art Show Fundraiser at the Kariton Art Gallery (2387 Ware Street, Abbotsford) from June 27 to July 22, 2014, with the opening reception to be held on Saturday, June 28, from 6pm to 8pm.

The Anonymous Art Show Fundraiser showcases art that was submitted anonymously by various members of the community of all ages, from first-time artists to established artists, to be featured and sold in a lightly juried exhibition in support of the arts. The show is an endeavor to support local artists, collectors, and the many community initiatives of the Abbotsford Arts Council.

Modeled on an event in North Vancouver by the North Vancouver Arts Council, the Abbotsford Anonymous Art Show is fun for artists and buyers, and it assists the Abbotsford Arts Council in funding many valuable programs, including free community events, exhibition space and arts initiatives. It also enables the community to support emerging artists and provides an opportunity to purchase an artist’s work at an affordable price.

Each piece displayed in the show is on a 12”x12”x1.5″ canvas and will be sold at $100. The artist receives 50% of the proceeds, and the balance will remain with the Abbotsford Arts Council. Purchased paintings are immediately taken off the wall and given to the purchaser. In its place, a sold tag will reveal the artist’s name. The Abbotsford Arts Council will announce each participating artist on Twitter (@abbyartscouncil) as their work is sold.

Due to the popularity of the show, applications are still being accepted until July 13, 2014 and are available for download on abbotsfordartscouncil.org or at the Kariton Art Gallery (2387 Ware Street, Abbotsford). The Kariton Art Gallery is open Tuesday through Friday, 12pm to 5pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 9:30am to 4:30pm.

In partnership with the Abbotsford Arts Council in support of the participating artists, the House of Fine Art (2485 West Railway Street, #101, Abbotsford) will give each person who purchases the required 12”x12”x1.5″ pre-stretched canvas at their store a $9.95 coupon to use towards their next purchase.
