Submitted. On Friday July 11th at 5:00pm, the Abbotsford Police Department were called to the 2200 block of McKenzie Rd for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle which had fled the scene. Police arrived on scene and located a 41 year old male suffering from serious injuries to his body as a result of the impact. Medical resources were deployed to assist the man while APD members began investigating and gathering evidence.
On July 12th Mario Richard Delellis was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, Assault, Fail to Remain at Scene of Accident, and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm.
Tragically, on July 13th the injured man succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical treatment at hospital. The investigation is currently being followed up by the Abbotsford Police Major Crime Unit.
