Submitted. This morning at 3:00am the Abbotsford Police Department received a report of a collision in the 2400 block of Countess Street. APD Patrol officers arrived on scene and located a van that had left the roadway crashing through two ground floor suites of a nearby apartment building.

The Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service attended the scene and proceeded to remove the trapped driver from the vehicle. Remarkably, all occupants of the suites although extremely shaken were uninjured. The driver of the van was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Due to significant structural damage to the building, the apartment building is being evacuated as a precaution as a result; Emergency Social Services has been notified to attend the scene.

In the early stages of this investigation, it appears that the female driver of the van may have been suffering from medical distress prior to the collision. Speed is also being considered.

APD Patrol Division remains on scene at this time awaiting the arrival of the APD Collision Reconstructionists. The area around the building will be closed for several hours
