Release. The Abbotsford business community will have an opportunity to weigh in with its vision on the Official Community Plan (OCP) update next week. The City is hosting a Business Stakeholder Workshop on Thursday, February 19th, from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the Clearbrook Library.

Abbotsforward is an initiative to update one of our City’s most important tools – the Official Community Plan. The City’s has invited members of the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce, Abbotsford Downtown Business Association and the Fraser Valley Indo-Canadian Business Association to meet with City staff. The Abbotsfordward team will share what they’ve learned about Abbotsford and listen to the ideas and opinions of representatives of the business sector.

“The current OCP was created in 2005 and provided for a certain degree of flexibility in how the City developed,” said Allan Asaph, Executive Director of the Chamber. “Since then a lot has changed and the City needs to hear from its residents about what kind of City they want to live, work and play in. The OCP review process is our way to have a meaningful role in the future of Abbotsford,” Asaph added.

The City is hosting a series of Road Show Events and Neighbourhood Walks during February and March to engage residents in the OPC review process and have created a survey to allow residents to share their vision for the future. The survey is available at www.abbotsforward.metroquest.ca .
