Chilliwack Could End Up In Court Over Toxic Waste Facility

By March 3, 2014News, Valley News

By Mike Archer. It seems the City of Chilliwack could be in some hot water over the curious wording it used to allow citizens to know about it’s proposed toxic waste facility.

The City’s advertisement for the original public hearing contained no mention either of the fact it was a toxic waste facility or the fact it was almost adjacent to the Fraser River.

According to a story in today’s Globe and Mail “Now, those oversights may land the city in court and lead to what a lot of people have been calling for – public hearings at which the public actually gets to have a say.”

The Globe also revealed some of the safety issues which Aevitas Inc., the owners of the proposed facility, has faced which appear to contradict what the Chilliwack Progress reported as ” … 20 years without an incident.”
