At 11am, Robyn & Ryleigh Gillespie, a talented country/ pop sister duo hailing from Langley, B.C., will take the stage offering a sound that combines modern, youthful pop influences blended with traditional country elements of acoustic instruments, meaningful lyrics and sibling harmonies. The girls released their album, Robyn and Ryleigh, on MDM/ Universal Records in 2013. The lead single, “Just Another Sundown,” is currently getting international airplay. Robyn is emerging as a talented songwriter, and Ryleigh is also a working actor.
Performing at 12pm, Innerwild will offer a plethora of musical styles, including blues, rockin’ soul, R&B, swing with some Latin, country and classic rock and roll. The band consists of five versatile musicians featuring Noel Gulbransen on lead guitar and vocals, Doug McFetridge on second guitar and vocals, Bob Van Velzen on electric bass and vocals, Freddie Schmidt on sax, and Rick Noel on drums.
Then at 1pm, Topaz, founded in 1980 and still going strong, is one of the longest lasting bands on record. The band is made up of bassist Scott Boyes, drummer Jerry Brown, keyboardist John Fultz, and guitarist Gerry Hookoof. Top their sound off with the jewel tones of lead singer Vikki Evans, and it’s a winning combination that can handle anything from classic rock to country with a twist. Topaz has an extensive history having played opening sets for shows such as Pam Tillis, Jefferson Starship, Chilliwack and Edgar Winters. Topaz has also supported upcoming artists in addition to lending a musical hand to benefits for local food banks and the cancer foundation.
Envision Financial will also have a tent onsite, available to receive non-perishable food or cash donations as part of Envision Financial’s Full Cupboard program, with donations benefiting the Abbotsford Food Bank. The Full Cupboard is an innovative community program designed to raise food, funds and awareness for food banks in the communities where Envision Financial operates. Last year, over 95,000 British Columbians accessed their local food bank, 30% of whom were children. To learn more, visit www.thefullcupboard.ca.
