Submitted. CIVL 101.7 FM at UFV in Abbotsford invites you to participate in the next project funded by the Community Radio Fund of Canada. The CRFC’s $50,000 grant is aimed at providing accessible training and sustainable engagement to Fraser Valley community members interested in participating in media. Two workshop presenters kick off this initiative.
Hired to coordinate this project is Gordon Katic of Cited, a syndicated program based out of CiTR 101.9 FM at UBC. Gordon will be at CIVL Monday, January 30th starting at 10 am to discuss any questions participants have about this project. Reach him via mini-school@civl.ca
What? Radio Mini School: Become a student of the radio mini school, and you’ll attend a half-day workshop with leading producers, receive hands on mentorship in developing your own radio piece, and then hear that piece play live on CIVL 101.7 FM. How much does this amazing program cost? Nothing!
We pay you between $250-500.
When? The first half-day workshop is Saturday, Feb 4th.

How do I report for the radio? Presented by Angela Sterritt of the CBC. Sterritt will cover the essentials of what makes a radio story, how to report it, and how to report it ethically.
How do I produce for the radio? Award-winning documentary producer, Garth Mullins. Mullins will cover production essentials, like narrative structure, music, and ‘good tape.’
Angela Sterritt is an award-winning journalist, artist and writer, from the Gitxsan Nation. Sterritt has worked as a journalist for close to twenty years and has been with the CBC since 2003. She currently works as a TV, radio and online reporter with CBC Vancouver and CBC Indigenous.
Garth Mullins is a broadcaster, writer, activist and musician. Mullins has produced award-winning radio documentaries for programs like CBC Ideas. He has written for numerous publications, including Vancouver Sun, the Georgia Straight, Vice.
