Submitted. Darryl Plecas has been acclaimed as the BC Liberal candidate in Abbotsford South for the 2017 general election.
“It has been an honour to represent the residents of Abbotsford South for the past three years,” said Plecas. “I look forward to being able to continue with that privilege as the candidate once again in 2017.”
During his term as MLA, Darryl has held the Parliamentary Secretary role for Crime Reduction to the Minister of Justice, and served on the Special Committee to Review the Independent Investigations Office. He currently serves as Parliamentary Secretary for Seniors to the Minister of Health, and as Parliamentary Secretary for Accessibility to the Minister of Social Development and Social Innovation. He also serves on Legislative Review Committee, the Select Standing Committee on Health, and the Select Standing Committee on Children and Youth.
“I am very proud of all that we have accomplished in this province under the leadership of Premier Christy Clark. I am especially proud of what we have been able to accomplish in terms job creation and building a strong, diversified economy while at the same time making significant investments in health, supportive housing, and public safety,” added Plecas.
Prior to his election as MLA, Plecas was the RCMP Senior University Research Chair and Director for the Centre for Public Safety and Criminal Justice Research at the University of the Fraser Valley, where he worked for 34 years. Darryl has served as a volunteer to many organizations within the region, and he is the recipient of numerous recognitions including the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia Award for Public Safety, the CCSA Award of Excellence, UFV’s Teaching Excellence Award, the Queen’s Jubilee Medal, and the Order of Abbotsford.

The provincial election will take place on Tuesday, May 9, 2017.
