Dr. Nigel Murray Leaving As CEO Of Fraser Health

Fraser Health Board Senior Management Change
The Board of Directors of Fraser Health today announced that Dr. Nigel Murray, CEO, has advised the Board of his desire to return to New Zealand for family reasons and that he is finalizing an offer of employment in New Zealand. Dr. David Ostrow, former CEO of Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, will be the interim President and Chief Executive Officer effective next week.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Nigel Murray for his seven years of service as CEO of Fraser Health,” stated Wynne Powell, interim FHA Board Chair.

As Dr. Murray is resigning no severance costs will result from this transition.

“As many of you know there is a review underway at Fraser Health and I want to confirm that this work is still happening.”

On October 31, 2013 Honourable Terry Lake, Minister of Health issued a Ministerial order for an operational, financial and strategic plan to be determined by appointing a 10-member strategic review committee to conduct a review of the Fraser Health Authority. On April 9, 2014 the Minister appointed Wynne Powell as interim Chair of the Board of Authority.

“While the Strategic Review Committee is finalizing its work, the Board will continue to build on the momentum with new leadership and a fresh vision from a new CEO,” stated Powell. “As always, achieving top patient health outcomes remains our priority and will be the focus of the Board, and the entire Fraser Health Authority team.”
