Education News: Career Programs Continue To Grow

Submitted. With the District’s Career programs into the third year of its centralized programs model, Patti Tebbutt, District Principal for Career Programs was on hand to report to the Board that there is much to celebrate.

Career Programs have seen an increase in applications; the equity of access to career programs is improving; career program completion rates are improving; and Abbotsford’s Secondary School Apprenticeship enrollment has been the highest in the province for four consecutive years – with 125 enrolled last year.

Principal Tebbutt also noted three new initiatives will start over the next year: a pre-apprenticeship program, middle school Health and Career Education support, and an Employability Program at Bakerview Centre for Learning.
