From Kris Foulds. Abbotsford cartoonist, Ernie Poignant, will be at The Reach Gallery Museum Abbotsford on Wednesday, August 14 at 2pm to launch his new book, Poignant Moments, a collection of cartoons and stories from Ernie’s 90 year career as a humourist and historian.
Ernie grew up on his family’s farm in Ridgedale and many of his cartoons reflect the events of his early life there as well as his time training at the newly constructed Abbotsford airfield during WWII and his career in the newspaper industry. Ernie managed to bring humour to where it was needed it most: a community struggling through the 1948 flood and the Great Depression, and for hundreds of young patients at Children’s Hospital and Canuck Place.
All proceeds from sales of the 92-page book will support Canucks Place Children’s Hospice in Abbotsford. Books sell for $8. Join us at The Reach to get your copy and have it signed by Ernie and to see what Ernie is best known for – his entertaining and educational Chalk Talk!
