Students and visitors are able to view work by instructors of Textile Art and Fashion Design. The pieces illustrate inventive combinations of materials to daring treatments of fibre and fabric. Students will be inspired by the ideas used to create the fashions. Many pieces have stories to entertain and inform their viewers.

Margaret Blackburn’s “Internet” is a dress created from acrylic net with wool felted embellishments. She has accessorized it with a coordinating hat.
Vicki Bolan fashioned “Artemis” with basket willow, copper wire, glass and plastic beads, and composted silk.

Rene Corder Evans has combined wool and silkin her elegant evening outfit. She paired a hand felted, hand dyed merino wool shawl and bustier with a shibori-hand dyed silk skirt.

Bev Fanzego’s “Painted Lady” is hand painted on silk and rayon satin.
Dennis Greer exhibited three oil paintings in a series entitled “After the Ball”‚ 1, 2, & 3.
Eleanor Hannan created a crow costume entitled “From the Ashes”.

The cape features individually machine embroidered feathers, paint, and machine embroidered red silk lining..
Gayle Ramsden’s “Wearing Picasso” is her interpretation of Picasso’s 1931 work called “Girl before a Mirror”. She used various pigments on linen.

This Fashion Design Faculty Textile Art exhibition can be seen at the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford. The show runs until October 8th, 2010. Exhibition hours are Monday to Friday, 10 am to 5 pm.
